Santa Pola lookout

So, José led me up this small hillside and told me not to look until we were at just the right moment. It was breathtaking. It made me feel on top of the world.









That is until the paragliders flew over above us. ;)

It was a beautiful day. You can see the Island of Tabarca in the background. It is said to have a lot of Pirate history. We haven't been there yet. José has suggested we go when Rochelle gets here. She will come to visit me June 3rd. I am getting very excited.

Balneario de Archena

Went to Archena Spa this week-end. Had a very relaxing time. I was treated to the Archena Massage. A kind of massage that is applied front and back, head to toe, under showers of mineral-medicinal water by using thermal mud from the dead sea as a massage rub. Lasted about 25 minutes. When you are finished, you hop off the table and she uses a hose to rinse all the mud off, front and back. That part was a little uncomfortable for me. But all in all, totally relaxing. You can see the Roman ruins from the baths were it is said the Roman soldiers often came to heal their bodies after their battles. Hmmm to think that Marc Anthony may have bathed in this very spot. ... I had a great time.

Welcome to the family Austin Maurice

My new nephew born May 7th weighing in at 8lb 3oz. I wonder if it is just a coincidence that he was born on the anniversary of the death of my father. It was a little touch and go at first.  He was born via a C-section and took his first breath before they were ready. Aspirated some blood and it wanted to clot in his lungs. Maurice and Jenny were told he may not make it. They put him on a respirator to assist him. Shortly after, he had had enough of it and ripped it out. Soon after he was breathing fine on his own and the hospital staff were calling him the miricle baby. I would have to say no miricle, just a Whitney. He does have his Grandpa's hands. Big! He and mom are home now and doing well. He is changing from day to day.
